Austin International Drag Festival
This annual festival is dedicated to the education, visibility and support of DRAG entertainers of all forms. The Austin International Drag Festival (AIDF) is a non-profit organization started by Jamie Stewart Bancroft, along with the help of many like minded people who have a common love for the drag community.
I am creating the Austin International Drag Festival because I absolutely adore the Drag community. Drag artists play such an important part in our lives, whether you know it or not. They raise millions of dollars for charity. They expand our view of art through amazing creative performances. They also create conversation about gender roles in society. The world would be a pretty boring place without our Queens and Kings. - Jamie Stewart Bancroft
QUEENS
Beat that mug! Sissy that walk! All T, all shade! YASSSSSS!!!! How could you not love the wonderfully colorful and ever changing Queens making glitter sparkle even brighter! There's a hell of a lot more to it than duct tape and a pretty dress!
KINGS
Drag kings are mostly female performance artists who dress in masculine drag and personify male gender stereotypes as part of an individual or group routine. They may be heterosexual, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, genderqueer, or otherwise part of the LGBT community.
FEMME QUEENS
Yes, real women love to perform in all the same sparkly glory as their male counterparts! The hair, the make-up and the stage presence is killer!
AVANT GARDE ART
The word DRAG needs to be listed among the categories that describe art. Right alongside expressionism and contemporary. However, it is much more fluid than that when our entire image changes everyday!
The ART of charity
One of the most endearing parts of commanding the stage is the ability to command attention to causes, charities and advocacy within our respective communities locally and worldwide. Raising awareness and donations never looked better!
